At this year’s annual beyondAEC hackathon event, catch PAYETTE Building Scientist Chris Mackey lead a discussion on parametric modeling and the Grasshopper environmental plug-in Ladybug. The beyond AEC is a Boston-based 24-hour hackathon event in which programmers, designers, engineers and builders assemble to create new digital tools and solutions to recurring problems in practice. This year, the Symposium will be held on Friday, July 20 from 12pm to 6pm, and the 24-hour hackathon will start immediately after.
What You Have Been Told About Parametric Modeling is Wrong!
Chris, a co-founder of the Grasshopper environmental plug-in Ladybug along with Mostapha Sadeighpour Roudsari, will address several misconceptions about parametric environmental modeling and discussed its true potential for supporting an iterative design process. He will present his personal journey through the hype cycle of parametric modeling and shared lessons they have learned from developing Ladybug Tools. Chris will also share their plans for the future of Ladybug Tools and what is currently under development.
