We are pleased to announce that Monacelli, now part of Phaidon, is publishing a monograph of our work titled FUSION — The Performance of Architecture, to be released on June 30th.
Greatly influenced by our long history, the Monograph highlights our most current thinking and selected award winning work. It also shares our commitment to bring innovation and beauty to buildings for healthcare and science. We believe we are an architecture firm that is just beginning to stretch its wings, becoming actively engaged in the discourse and definition of Performalism.
The concept for the book was largely born while crafting our AIA Firm Award submission; when we realized that our approach, the FUSION of Design + Performance, was worth sharing to bring greater clarity and understanding of our work and its purpose. Both efforts, the AIA Firm Award Submission and the book, have helped us grow and articulate the goals and ambitions for our practice.
The monograph begins with a forward written by Z Smith, Principal and Director of Sustainability and Building Performance at Eskew Dumez Ripple, followed by insightful essays written by PAYETTE’s President / CEO Kevin Sullivan, Principal and former President / CEO James Collins, Jr. and Principal George Marsh, Jr.
FUSION — The Performance of Architecture highlights seven of the firm’s recent award winning projects. The core values of the firm are shared by Kevin Sullivan and Principals Leon Drachman, Andrea Love and Peter Vieira, Jr. The final essay is written by Mark Lee, Chair of the Architecture Department at Harvard’s Graduate School of Design and founding partner at Johnston Marklee. The book also includes a series of wonderful “fingerprints” – a history of our projects in the form of blueprint images – and a chapter about the culture of PAYETTE, a real look at who we are.
As PAYETTE looks forward to 2020 and beyond, we are excited by the opportunity and potential ahead. Although this Monograph captures a moment in time, it is a story we wanted to tell to push us forward, to finish a chapter and to mark a new beginning.
FUSION — The Performance of Architecture will be released June 30th. Pre-orders are now available.
