As a low, pavilion-style building, the new Frank and Maureen Wilkens Science and Engineering Center at Cape Cod Community has so far experienced several rapid transformations, and erecting the steel frame is certainly one of them. The entire frame will be complete in the space of only 2 weeks! Together with the erectors union and the College administration, PAYETTE joined the traditional “topping off” ceremony on June 1st. The college welcomed students, faculty and staff to add their names along with the entire project team and crew, followed by a short ceremony and lunch.
This project offers a transformative new heart to an important campus for regional STEM learning on the Cape. It will house teaching labs, faculty offices and support spaces for Chemistry, Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, Physics, Engineering and Environmental Sciences. This project is set to achieve LEED Silver and Net Positive thanks to a robust solar renewable energy production on the roof and parking area.
