PAYETTE is collaborating with Hunan Design Institute to formulate the foundation of a state of the art bio-medical research building at XiangYa Hospital in Changsha. XiangYa Hospital of Central South University is established by Hunan provincial government and Yale Society of United States in 1906. The hospital was named Yali Hospital and renamed as XiangYa Hospital in 1914. It is an integrated entity with teaching, research and medical care.
The project is a 25-story teaching and research tower. Teaching components are located on Level 1 to Level 9. Level 10 to level 25 are designated for research components. The research program includes medical research lab, PI lab, Animal Imaging (MRI/CT), large instrument facility and sample/specimen storage.
Members of the team worked with the local design institute on site and presented design concepts with innovative solutions to the hospital this summer. The 5-day intensive workshops had set the high-performance lab space planning to generate the hub of world-class research in the region.
