It is an exciting time at Amherst College as the construction of our New Science Center continues to make great strides. Scheduled to open in the summer of 2018, it will bring the Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Physics & Astronomy and Psychology Departments together in a new, transparent home. The project is adjacent to the Beneski Earth Sciences building by PAYETTE.
A construction site always has many moving parts, and Amherst College is no exception. Currently, we are pouring concrete on parts of Levels 2 and 3, and radiant tubing is also being installed. Our MEP subs have begun installing piping in the basement. While that is occurring, the roof monitor mockup is underway and curtain wall testing is ongoing. The interior design development is in progress as the design team is regularly meeting with the College to review finish samples and the color palette.
