Ben joined Payette in 2012 and quickly emerged as an expert and innovative model builder. Prior to pursuing a B.Arch. at Syracuse University, Ben participated in City Year as a first grade literacy teacher. Influenced by that experience, Ben is interested in the design of elementary schools and desires to find ways to bring design into education, even in those early years. He is a member of a community of artisans in Somerville and pursues woodworking in his free time. Ben received his B.Arch. from Syracuse University in 2012.
A peek behind the curtain of designing the `Geodes` at Penn State West 2:
Our team created a series of custom millwork design huddle spaces populated in the top floor open maker space, which are designed to accommodate small-group meetings, rest and meditation, filming and recording. The materiality of the Geodes echoes the color strategy, homogenous from the outside, with the interior of each Geode in a different pop-up color, made out of painted cork tiles and fabric wrapped panels.
