Attending this year’s AIA Wisconsin Conference on Architecture? PAYETTE Principal and Director of Building Science Andrea Love will be presenting on designing envelopes for energy efficiency efficiency and occupant comfort.
Bridge the Divide: Envelope and HVAC Design Integration and Comfort
The design of a building’s exterior envelope affects performance from day one and often remains unaltered throughout the building’s life. When it comes to energy efficiency and occupant comfort, the envelope arguably has the greatest impact. Optimized envelope designs create the opportunity for simplified and more efficient HVAC systems, and balance first costs. During this presentation, architect Andrea Love, AIA, will discuss how to effectively leverage building science throughout the architectural design process to achieve long-lasting, healthy, high-performance buildings. Love also will share a free tool developed by her firm that predicts the comfort implications and energy impacts of building envelope choices—taking a close look at window size and placement, thermal properties and coatings
