The Beyond Walls Kickoff Party was a success! The community campaign to vitalize downtown Lynn exceeded their $50,000 goal. Held at the Lynn Museum last week, the event garnered an outpouring of community support with over 150 people in attendance. By achieving the fundraising goal within the 60 day period, the campaign secured the matching funds from Mass Development.
Beyond Walls, a group of Lynn residents, business owners and public art and placemaking enthusiasts, are working to install underpass lighting and throughout the city’s business district, a sculpture that pays homage to Lynn’s industrial roots, as well as seven murals in the heart of Lynn’s Transformative Development Initiative District. This project aims to improve walkability, and increase sense of place and safety in the heart of downtown Lynn.
The campaign will continue through May 22, with all additional donations going directly to Beyond Walls to support expanded underpass lighting scope. If the group can raise an additional $30,000, the project will also include lighting of the FULL Washington Street Underpass.
PAYETTE is proud to be part of this project to help revitalize downtown Lynn. Our team partnered with LAM Partners on the design of the underpass lighting and have provided Beyond Walls with renderings, which illustrate the project’s potential for the city.
