The Steven and Jann Paul Hall for Science and Engineering at Tulane University recently opened to students for the spring semester, marking an important milestone for the project. The design and construction process included a global pandemic and a natural disaster (Hurricane Ida in 2021), but the project was delivered on time. The new 5-story, 70,000 SF building is home to the Tulane Brain Institute and researchers from the School of Science and Engineering including biomedical engineering, computer science, engineering physics, psychology and cell and molecular biology.
The building features flexible laboratories, a 230-seat auditorium, research space for up to 24 principal investigators, innovative classrooms and informal spaces for student and faculty collaboration. Paul Hall is a focal point for student activity on the Johnston Quad and has quickly become a popular student destination. As the new heart space for the School of Science and Engineering at Tulane, it is a front door to the science and engineering precinct.
