Ipsen opens its new US headquarters in Cambridge soon. The biopharmaceutical company will continue to foster relationships with Boston’s top academic medical research community. With continued growth in the US, the new research site at 650 East Kendall will house laboratory, conference and break-out spaces for the European-based biopharmaceutical company, creating a vibrant new front door for the company. PAYETTE designed the fit-out. The new space visually sets Ipsen apart from other tenants in the building–all planes of the interior space are utilized, from bright blue carpet referencing the company’s branding and colorful moving glass panels that feature integrated type symbolizing the mission of their research visually separates the public atrium and lounge space. Markerboard paint is abundant and invites spontaneous collaboration in this breakout space.
The new fit-out provides a flexible and state-of-the-art research environment as well as a double-height communal space featuring a public Bamboo Garden which also houses reception, kitchen and informal lounge space. Transparency, light and connections to the outdoors are central themes to this new center for research and development. The research and development center features a lively palette, taking advantage of its visual prominence from all levels of the building.
The Boston Globe highlighted Ipsen’s development and growth plans in the US market and prescription drug discovery in a recent article, “Ipsen sets up shop in Cambridge.”
