The Boston Globe recently featured the Tufts University’s School of Medicine’s Biomedical Research and Public Health Building. PAYETTE has been working with Tufts University on relocating the anatomy laboratory to the third floor which will double its size and equip it with advanced digital imaging equipment. The new gross anatomy laboratory, which is expected to open in 2018, will provide natural light and expand the space from 16 SF per student to 30 SF per student and will have five students per dissection table.
As highlighted in the article, Tufts received a $15 million gift from the Jaharis Family Foundation to make this project possible, and a portion of the donation will also provide scholarships for students starting careers in the family practice. “The need for primary care physicians in America is growing, and I hope that this scholarship will help students who go into family medicine graduate with less loan debt,” said Jaharis Family Foundation Director Dr. Steven Jaharis.
We are honored to be part of such an impactful project, and look forward to seeing our design of the new gross anatomy laboratory put to use when the doors open in 2018.
