As classes start in schools and Universities across the U.S., we visited a few of the Organic Chemistry Labs we renovated at Boston College. These labs include moveable casework, which allow for different configurations depending on the needs of the coursework. In addition, there is a great deal of transparency between the prep space and the corridor.
These labs are in the same building as a renovation we completed for BC in 2013 and build on the color portals framing the lab entrance as well as the clean, simple palette inside the labs.
These labs are all about executing the small details and that includes a catch cup for the fume hood sinks. It was the perfect opportunity to use our 3D printer to prototype a few solutions.

The final solution involved 55 fume hood cup sink drainers that we designed and Shapeways 3D printed. Stay tuned for more photos of the space once all the final touches are in place.
