A collective of over 160 inspired individuals, we are passionate about the intersection of high design and high technology. It is through our firm’s collaborative efforts that we have established a practice of innovation and invention that pushes programmatic, sustainability and design boundaries. With great pleasure we announce the advancement of 13 staff members. We’ll feature the promoted staff of the next few days. We hope you’ll join us in celebrating their achievements. Today we recognize our four new Senior Associates.
Leon V. Auvil, Jr., AIA, CSI, CDT
Promoted to Senior Associate
Having joined PAYETTE in 1989, Leon Auvil brings over 30 years of architectural experience to the practice. Leon’s project role and experience with PAYETTE spans several different building typologies but most recently, his focus has been on wrapping up contract administration at the Harvard Art Museums, in addition to beginning phases for Boston University’s Center for Integrated Life Sciences & Engineering Building. Leon has excelled in office-wide roles as a mentor to junior staff, in a consulting role in the technical aspects of design, documentation, specifications and methodologies, and as the leader for the quality review program. Leon is passionate about architectural detailing and was instrumental in the development of the firm’s quality standards.
Barry Farquharson
Promoted to Senior Associate
Having joined PAYETTE in 2000, Barry brings over 25 years of finance and accounting experience to the firm. As Senior Finance Manager he leads the firm’s efforts in all accounting matters: overseeing project financials, cash flow analysis, general ledger reporting, project billing, accounts receivable and accounts payable. Barry has also been instrumental in developing the firm’s financial forecasting, labor utilization tracking and budgeting processes. Barry is also the Chairman of the firm’s 401K Committee. Barry received his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting with a Minor in Economics from Suffolk University in 1989. Barry is also a Certified Design Accountant.
Sarah N. Lindenfeld, AIA
Promoted to Senior Associate
Sarah joined PAYETTE in 2014 as an Associate, bringing with her over 13 years of experience in architecture and design, both domestically and internationally. Her primary project experience since her arrival at PAYETTE has been on the Skidmore College Center for Integrated Sciences as well as a master space planning project for the University of Texas at Austin and a renovation and expansion to the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Nursing. Sarah has been an active participant in the Women in Design Committee at the Boston Society of Architects, including previous time on the Mentoring Sub-Committee and Steering Committee. She currently sits on the BSA Honors and Awards Committee. Sarah has also been a speaker at ArchitectureBoston Expo (ABX). She graduated from the University of New Mexico with her Master of Architecture in 2000.
Wesley Schwartz, AIA
Promoted to Senior Associate
Since joining PAYETTE in 2005, Wes has demonstrated a wide range of design skills and technical knowledge across award-winning project work in both healthcare and research typologies. He is currently leading the envelope design for the Northeastern University Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Complex. With project roles spanning all aspects of planning, design and construction, Wes has been particularly influential in the design, technical development and graphic documentation of highly complex façade systems. His project work includes the Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center campus, the Ambulatory Care Building at Thomas Jefferson University and the Center for Surgical Innovation at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. Since receiving his Bachelor of Architecture degree from Syracuse University in 2004, Wes has been an active Studio Instructor, critic and lecturer at the Boston Architectural College.
