This past weekend PAYETTE had a blast participating in the 21st annual CANstruction Boston, this year themed ‘Journey into Space.’ The collective energy and enthusiasm from all 27 teams was infectious! CANstruction Boston benefits the Merrimack Valley Food Bank in Lowell, Massachusetts and has donated over 800,000 pounds of food since its founding in 1995.
“Take your protein pills and put your helmets on,” Space Oddity is here!
Our David Bowie-inspired structure, Space Oddity, went up free of mishap and boy did it go up. At just a few inches short of the 10-foot maximum height, our towering red and blue lightning bolt looks striking from all sides of the Nelson Court atrium (280 Congress Street) and even from our office above, an added bonus! We appreciate all the help from those who lent a hand and a very special thanks to Trader Joe’s and SPRY Moving & Storage for respectively donating 5000+ cans and transporting them to the site.

Like the iconic lightning bolt for which he is known, David Bowie descended from the heavens in a dazzling flash of light and sound before vanishing as quickly as he appeared. We here at ground control may not know where he went, but for now we are left with his parting gifts, his chicken soup for the soul.

We spent a special evening celebrating the opening of Land`s Sake Farmstand. The evening included pick-your own flowers, a bluegrass band, farm-grown veggies and a project very dear to us!
