Advice for Fellow Architects and Designers: Part 4

At PAYETTE, we believe in sharing knowledge throughout our firm and the profession. In this series, we wanted to share advice from PAYETTE architects at different phases of their careers on topics ranging from creating mentorships, working towards your licensure and finding the right work/life balance.

Today, we hear from PAYETTE Architect Dan Russoniello, AIA.

Dan Russoniello, AIA 
Since joining PAYETTE in 2013, Dan has worked on a number of academic science projects, including the Columbia University Data Science Institute, the Center for Integrated Life Sciences and Engineering at BU, Bryn Mawr College Park Science Addition and Renovation, and the UW School of Public Health Programming and Visioning study. He serves as the firm’s licensing advisor, and is involved in the development of Revit resources for the office.

What is the best piece of advice you received when studying for your licensure?
Figure out what your goals are and how licensure fits into that. Everyone is different.

Advice on establishing a presence in the firm as a young architect?
Speak up, you’re here to think and express ideas. I like exploring through dialogue to get an understanding of everyone’s view.

Where do you look for inspiration?
I’m inspired by peers who I see doing awesome things.

Restaurant: For pizza, try Saraghina in Brooklyn, NY. More locally, Babbo in the Seaport has great food, and Sarma in Somerville is a current favorite. For a casual breakfast spot, try Brookline Lunch in Central Square.
