Join the BSA Committee for Research & Innovation Design and BSA/SCUP College & University Roundtable for a joint event: Trends in Science Research and Innovation at the Northeastern University Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Complex (ISEC) on Tuesday, March 20.
Session 1: Shared Slide Presentation: Trends and Best Practices in Lab Design
All are invited to contribute 3 to 5 slides to present in 3 to 5 minutes showcasing a compelling trend or best practice in lab design. It can be thematic or case-study based. If you would like to share some slides, please forward to Debi McDonald at dmcdonald@jcj.com by Monday 3/19 at noon.
Session 2: Engineering Trends and Best Practices in Lab Design
Lab design is a complex undertaking requiring a close collaboration between the owner, researchers, architect, engineers, other consultants and the builder. Engineering is a key aspect to the successful design of any lab space. Engineers from Arup, BR+A, Buro Happold and Vanderweil will present emerging trends and best practices in building systems design for research facilities.
Session 3: Boston as an Innovation and Research Ecosystem
Since the Boston area has been recognized as a hub for innovation nationally, the community of researchers, entrepreneurs, institutions and developers collectively understand what it takes to create an ecosystem that generates new knowledge and new ventures. This panel will provide a forum for the participants to share their experiences with projects that are part of the research and innovation ecosystem. The panel will include Mark Chaffee from Biogen, Rebecca Herbst, Research and Advisory Services JLL, and Maureen Hickey, Northeastern University.
Following the presentations, you will have an opportunity to tour ISEC.
