The soul of our practice resides in its people, and we are always looking for ways to cultivate emerging talent and professionals. We really enjoy our active internship program that brings multiple interns to join our team throughout the year for typically a semester at time. Today, we wanted to introduce some of our interns working alongside us this summer.
Born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee, I am son and brother to fellow architects. I attended the University of Tennessee for my undergraduate, where I received a Bachelors of Architecture. Following graduation, I moved to New York City to work for Gensler. In that time, I worked on the new Etsy global headquarters in Brooklyn and a major renovation to IBM’s global headquarters campus in Westchester, New York. After four years in the city, I have returned to school for a Master of Architecture in Urban Design (MAUD) from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design with an expected graduation in 2019.
After studying architecture at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi, Ghana, I worked with Joe Ossae-Addo, Principal at Constructs LLC where was greatly influenced by the innovative approach to design. I have worked on architectural projects in Ghana, Liberia, Nigeria, Finland and the United States. I also worked as a contributing writer for Bleacher Report and as a freelance designer and architectural visualizer. I earned my B.Arch from the Ohio State University Knowlton School of Architecture and am currently a graduate student at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design. And I am currently working on a research project that explores how spaces can retain their unique cultural identity in an increasingly multicultural world.
My name is Bezawit Ayalew, I am a rising senior at Clark University graduating at the end of this year. I am a double major in Computer Science and Economics. The reason I chose to do Computer Science is because I love the power of logic and how it reveals itself through machines. I am also an Economics major because I enjoy the study of production, consumption and the transfer of wealth. The point at which both fields meet is the most intriguing part for me, which is being able to use Machine Learning tools and Artificial Intelligence to understand and predict data trends to help improve both the economy in developing areas of the world as well as improving the access and distribution of resources. During my free time I like to write, have intellectual conversations with friends and explore different ethnic foods.
I am from Phoenix, Arizona, and am currently a Master’s student at Clemson University in the Architecture + Health program. I earned my B.Arch from Arizona State University in 2017. I was initially drawn to architecture as a profession due to the combination of both technical and artistic skills, and found my calling in the complexity of the healthcare field.
In my free time I enjoy spending time with friends and family as well as traveling. I am also an avid sketcher and like to take time during my travels to sketch small vignettes of the surrounding built environment. Last summer I spent a week in Israel and had a lot of time to travel, experience a new culture and sketch iconic architecture, old and new. I am very excited to be here at PAYETTE and am enjoying this summer’s adventure with the wonderful people and projects this firm has to offer.
I am currently working towards my B.Arch at Syracuse University. I find architecture discipline exciting and unique as it combines structure and technology with design. In my free time, i like to go rowing, running and performing on-stage in a guitar/vocal duo.
I am currently working towards my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design from Endicott College. I was drawn to interior design because I am passionate about creating spaces that benefit the users’ needs and lifestyle. In my free time, I enjoy traveling, going to the beach, scuba diving, and discovering new coffee shops!
I am going into my final year of my undergraduate studies at Northeastern University, working towards a degree in Architecture and minors in Urban Studies and Business Administration. Growing up, I was convinced that I wanted to be an inventor. I loved the idea of being able to plan and create something new that could help solve a need. As I grew older, these professional aspirations have morphed as I learned more about the built world. Growing up in rural Minnesota, I found cities to be fascinating and exciting places. Not only did I want to live in one someday, but I wanted to help shape them. When it finally came time to go to college, I knew I still wanted to be an inventor – an inventor of buildings. In my free time, I like to read, go for runs through Boston, volunteer and travel to new places.
