Inspiration can come from anywhere. Nearly every design challenge begins with some exploration and search for inspiration. Today, Jo YunJung Cho shares about where she finds inspiration.
I have been exposed to a diverse range of disciplines, such as architecture, design, and art, which had a great influence on my designs as an interior designer. In particular, I am inspired by artworks. One of my favorite artists, Agnes Martin said while she is painting, she doesn’t think and keeps her mind empty. That means she uses her pure emotion as her subject for painting. To express it, she used lines or grids with subtle color.
Art inspires me to think outside the box, using proper color, pattern and texture. As an interior designer, this has significantly helped me to create a certain atmosphere of space. So then, people can sense the atmosphere in space, like the feeling when people appreciate artwork.
