Meet our Interns: Part 1

The soul of our practice resides in its people, and we are always looking for ways to cultivate emerging talent and professionals. We really enjoy our active internship program that brings multiple interns to join our team throughout the year for typically a semester at time. Today, we wanted to introduce some of our interns working alongside us this summer.

I grew up in Francestown, NH. I am a rising junior in Clemson University’s undergraduate architecture program. I’m a sustainability minor and study German as well. I have always been excited by architecture, and want to use my interest in architecture to have a greater impact. I hope to develop my passion and knowledge more this summer and while I study abroad in Genoa, Italy next year. In my free time, I play rugby at Clemson and I enjoy spending time outdoors with family and friends.

I graduated with a B.A. in Studio Art from Smith College in Northampton, MA, studying drawing, painting and digital art. In graduate school, I studied and earned an M.F.A. in Painting from Boston University. Both in design and fine arts, I’ve always loved representing a story (an identity) through color, form, light and shape. From an oil painting on canvas to an icon on Adobe Illustrator, I relish in the making and refining of an image. I like Graphic Design because I like working for a team to tell a bigger story – and it’s easy to be inspired by beautiful architecture. In my free time, I draw some more, go on food adventures with friends and read.

I’m a second year student at Howard University Architecture. I am from Bronx, NY, and am of Togolese descent. In my free time, I enjoy aimlessly exploring the cities I’m in. I was inspired to study architecture due to my living conditions growing up. I shared a one bedroom apartment with my mother, little brother and grandmother in one of most cramped and gentrified cities in the country. When I decided to study architecture, I intended to focus on urban design, specifically affordable housing. As I’ve furthered my studies as an architecture student, I’ve grown more interested in civic design in urban areas, while still focusing on affordable housing. Civic design allows more room to interweave abstract styles into building designs. Eventually I intend on practicing civic design in Lomé, Togo focusing  on designing spaces for the arts.

Originally from Princeton, NJ, I’ve lived in Boston for the last four years as an architecture student at Northeastern University. I joined PAYETTE in January for my second co-op, with previous experience at firms specialized in residential, historic preservation and higher education works. Outside of the nine-to-five, I am the president of NU’s American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS) chapter and I’m trying my hand at videography, editorial design, softball and visiting every Tatte in the city.

I’m a rising junior at Wentworth Institute of Technology majoring in Computer Science with an Applied Math minor. I believe technology is our future and it is an exciting field that will always be changing and producing new opportunities which is why I chose to study Computer Science. When I’m not working or at school I like to dance, cook and spend time with my family and friends.
