The ArchDaily article, PAYETTE Lights Up Lynn with Pro Bono Display, talks about how the colorful LED lighting display activates Lynn’s urban center and touches on future plans for a smartphone app that will allow users to choose lighting scenes.
This dramatic project, developed by the Beyond Walls community of enterprising artists, residents and business owners who endeavor to transform and invigorate downtown Lynn, continues to shine. The installation establishes a sense of place and provides spectacular visual delight, as well as safety, throughout the formerly vacant, dark underpasses that traverse Lynn’s business district. Beyond Walls was one of five finalists for the Ruby Bruner Award for Urban Excellence. This pro bono project characterizes the role of architecture as contributor toward the public good.
