PAYETTE is honored to be holding an exhibition at Virginia Tech’s School of Architecture+Design this upcoming week. The exhibit opens on Sunday, February 23rd and will run through Friday, February 28th.
The School of Architecture + Design at Virginia Tech offers professional degrees in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Industrial Design and Interior Design. The school evolved over many years from the original Department of Architecture, which was created in 1928. In 1947, the department began to offer degrees in Building Construction, Architecture and Architectural Engineering. The department offered its first professional degree, the Bachelor of Architecture, beginning in 1956. In 1964 the School of Architecture was officially formed, headed by Leonard Currie, a student and future colleague of Walter Gropius, one of the founders of the Bauhaus.
PAYETTE was recognized by the AIA with the Architecture Firm of the Year Award in 2019 and has received four AIA COTE Top Ten honors in the past four years. The exhibition will showcase three of these COTE award winning projects: the New Science Center at Amherst College, the Interdisciplinary Science & Engineering Complex at Northeastern University and the Milken Institute School of Public Health at George Washington University, along with several other award winning projects. The exhibition is designed to demonstrate our iterative approach to the design process, craft, method and materiality and to share the way we think about architecture through drawings, models and finished photography.
