PAYETTEPeople has been on Instagram since 2014, featuring posts on award winning projects, the firm’s latest news and updates, and more often, what’s going on with PAYETTE people. We’ve also been following a number of our PAYETTE co-workers, a view into their lives and interesting endeavors outside of their workday. I discovered that even when our architects and designers are not at work, they still can’t resist doing fun, architecturally related things – such as drawing a future world with conceptual buildings on screen, a watercolor of a building from their hometown or the penciled sketches and doodles that capture their thinking. I am fascinated about their work and I am eager to find a way to share it with a broader audience.
Inspired by artist Christoph Niemann and his New York Times column Abstract Sunday along with his witty illustrations and whimsical views of the Abstract Sunday channel on Instagram, I decided to start collecting interesting sketches created by our own creative PAYETTE people and began sharing them on Instagram on Sundays. These sketches are as simple as a quick drawing to a more complex multi-layer digital composition. From traditional watercolors to high tech graphic animations, each is a gem. The work is deeply connected to every individual author and has been influencing their professional creativity. A refreshing twist from our regular posts, these are an inspirational and aspirational resource for people from all backgrounds.
This fun collection of biweekly sketches has drawn a great number of followers and interest and is being archived to a permanent Story called: Sunday Sketches on our Instagram.
Follow us on Instagram (@PAYETTEPeople)and take a minute out of your Sunday (or anytime) to check out these stories – maybe you’ll find a little inspiration to either start a sketch, or another creative endeavor, of your own!
