In an increasingly digital world, we are equally inspired by physical objects. We believe that hands-on exploration of shapes, textures, materials and details is a critical component of design.
FURNITURE DESIGN
Furniture and product design have been part of our practice since the beginning. Founding Principals Markus and Nocka’s Bowditch desk is part of MoMA’s permanent collection. More recent examples include a reception station for an event space at Northeastern University, conference tables at MIT and a flexible table for our office.
LEGACY OF LEADERSHIP EXHIBIT
The structure and shell of the Sho-Ping Chin: Legacy of Leadership exhibition were designed, fabricated and assembled in-house at PAYETTE’s FabLab by an all-women team. Our firm’s WiD group, members of the fabrication team and people who collaborated with Sho-Ping were involved in the process.
ENHANCING PROJECTS
PAYETTE’s fabrication team completed the installation of custom planters at The 105 by Breakthrough. The intent was to modify the existing lobby circulation to better meet the tenant’s needs. The geometric shapes and the material selection of the objects respond to the space’s existing built-in furniture. The planters were fabricated in-house and installed by the fabrication team. The new stair between the two planter sections was later built by a general contractor. The final product is filled with lush greenery and successfully meet the client’s needs in this public lobby.
