On Monday, June 17th, we celebrated the grand opening of the new Ragon Institute of Mass General, MIT, and Harvard in Kendall Square. The Ragon Institute is a unique union of Mass General, MIT and Harvard at the forefront of infectious disease research, such as HIV-AIDS and COVID-19. Its new home is located on a freestanding triangular site along Main Street at the edge of Kendall Square and the MIT Campus.
The ribbon cutting was attended by the Institute’s benefactors Phillip T. (Terry) and Susan Ragon as well as Governor Maura Healey and the heads of Mass General, MIT and Harvard. The Institute also held an employee ribbon-cutting event on June 14th, where members of the Ragon community had a first look at their new home.
Bruce D. Walker, MD, Director of the Ragon InstituteToday’s celebration marks a historic milestone in the history of the Ragon Institute and we are humbled by and grateful for the support and vision of Terry and Susan Ragon. Most importantly, we are excited by the work that will take place here and the global impact it will have on those who suffer from disease.
