Three BSA Healthcare Design Awards

Three recent PAYETTE healthcare projects received BSA Healthcare Design Awards; Brigham and Women’s Hospital Advanced Multimodality Image Guided Operating (AMIGO) Suite, University of Massachusetts Medical School Ambulatory Care Center and the Veterans Affairs Medical Center Surgical Pavilion. The BSA Healthcare Design Awards select recipients on design excellence alone. The BSA will announce the tier of the awards at the annual Gala in January 2013.

Brigham and Women’s Hospital AMIGO Suite

The AMIGO Suite is one of the first instances in which the OR use is unlimited. The patient remains on the table during imaging. In the AMGIO Suite multiple types of equipment move, slide or swing into place, including MRI, angiography and PET/CT. Once the images have been completed and reviewed, the MRI glides out, the ceiling booms rotate back into place, the shielded door slides shut and surgery can continue.

University of Massachusetts Medical School Ambulatory Care Center

Built on the main University campus for the UMass Memorial Medical Center and the site of the University of Massachusetts of Medical School, the building is located adjoining an existing visitor parking garage to provide ease of access for patients and is close to the hospital and school to provide greater efficiency for physicians and researchers.

Veterans Affairs Medical Center Surgical Pavilion, Providence, RI

The new Surgical Pavilion represents a significant expansion and transformation of the full complement of operating rooms at a government medical center, where the surgical suite had not been updated in over 50 years. The primary objective of the project was to bring natural light into all of the primary treatment and staff work areas in the project.
