Massachusetts General Hospital is in the process of upgrading several of their interventional radiology rooms in an effort to provide the latest, state-of-the-art imaging modalities to their patients. PAYETTE recently led the design process to outfit a procedure room with a Siemens Artis zeego robotic arm device. According to Siemen’s website, the Artis zeego is “the first multi-axis system that can be positioned the way you want.” The robotic armature can deliver 360 visualizations that offer fast, CT-like coverage.
This project exemplifies PAYETTE’s continued expertise in coordinating complex hybrid procedure and imaging suites. The “zeego” project required precise integration with mechanical, electrical and structural design infrastructure. The resulting room creates an optimal environment for staff workflow between the immediate procedure field, workstations, supplies and the adjacent control room. Details such as providing a floor pattern that delineates the robot’s ‘no-fly-zone’ ensure a safe and efficient use of the equipment at all times. PAYETTE also re-conceptualized the design of the “bio-box” at the base of the procedure table by creating a low-profile, sleek interface to connect equipment and patient monitoring.
