We are thrilled to announce Andrea Love, PAYETTE’s Director of Building Science, received the 2017 Young Architects Award. The award is given by the AIA to individuals who have shown exceptional leadership and made significant contributions to the profession in an early stage of their architectural career.
Andrea was hired by PAYETTE in 2011 and charged with developing and driving the firm’s efforts through the creation of a Building Science Group. Today, Andrea has firmly embedded sustainable practices as part of the fundamental design culture of the firm. She has taught and influenced, not only her peer group within the office, an emerging generation of architectural staff, but has fundamentally influenced the way our leadership approaches and practices architecture. Her influence has raised the capabilities of our firm and increased our national recognition for our high performance practice.
Additionally, Andrea leads a number of internal research projects, including the 2012 AIA Upjohn Grant on “Thermal Performance of Façades,” a research project focused on thermal bridging. The project is PAYETTE’s first major research project supported by an AIA Upjohn Grant. She also leads the firm’s efforts on the AIA 2030 Commitment, tracking and benchmarking the performance of projects across the firm.
Andrea is a recognized leader on issues of energy, building science and high performance, and offers her expertise both locally and nationally. She is a frequent speaker at conferences such as the AIA Conference on Architecture and Greenbuild.
Congratulations to Andrea on her well-deserved honor!
