Over the next several weeks the Payette interiors department will share interiors-related inspiration. Each day we target a specific interiors-related topic and share it via Twitter using the hashtag #interiors. At the end of each week we’ll collect the links here. We hope you’ll find some inspiration, new ideas and great new sources. And we hope you’ll share your great interior moments with us.
Monday, 2/23: The New Translucent (Gina Mosca)
What isn’t translucent these days? Due to advances in LED technology and the relatively inexpensive cost of fiber optics, we are seeing the light. Phillips and Desso have collaborated on LED back lit carpet installations, while Luminoso allows light to be transmitted through wood panels via embedded fiber optics.
Tuesday, 2/24: Luminous Carpet (Amber Ghory, IIDA, LEED AP)
Wednesday, 2/25: Micro Apartments (Erin Polansky, IIDA, LEED AP)
Have we hit the micro-est yet? Check out Cubitat by Nichetto Studio and Urban Captial:
This 1,000 Cubic Feet Cube Contains an Entire House
Thursday, 2/26: Reclaiming Forgotten Timber (Amanda Holmen, MSLIS)
I think the story for this company [Maine Heritage Timber] and their materials is fascinating and what a great way to use wood that has been at the bottom of the Penobscot River in Maine for decades, turning it products that can be used for a variety of applications.
