This month the College of Architecture and Urban Studies at Virginia Tech celebrated its 50th anniversary. While the school is planning a yearlong celebration, as a proud alum, Kevin Sullivan participated in the kick-off celebration weekend (Sept. 4—7). A number of alumni spoke about their experiences, careers and work. Students from the university were welcome to attend any lecture of interest.
Kevin spoke on the topic of “Performalism and Embedded Nature,” which he defines as; architectural investigations involving the relationship between performance-based design, formalism and the importance of the landscape in the design of buildings. Kevin’s presentation covered a number of themes as they relate to this topic, using several PAYETTE projects to illustrate his ideas.
Congratulations to the College of Architecture and Urban Studies and here’s to 50 more years!
