Last week, the University of Texas at Austin held the official groundbreaking ceremony for the Welch Hall Renovation project. The 250,000 square-foot Welch Hall Renovation will modernize aging science facilities through a complete interior renovation that will also provide generous social spaces to nurture the exchange of ideas and the sharing of knowledge. It builds on the previous Master Space Plan work implementing a long-term strategic vision for the College of Natural Sciences.
At the groundbreaking ceremony, the students were able to say ‘goodbye’ to the old Welch Hall, sharing their opinions of the space and what they hope to have once the renovation is complete.
Once the goodbyes were made, Dean Lina Hicke swung the ceremonial first hit with a sledgehammer to commence the renovation of Welch Hall.
As stated by Leon Drachman at the BBQ Dinner following the groundbreaking ceremony, “PAYETTE is honored to be able to continue to strengthen our relationship with the College and move forward on the vision established in the Master Space Plan.”
