The current issue of Architect magazine features an interview with PAYETTE’s Andrea Love, Z Smith of Eskew+Dumez+Ripple (EDR) and Colin Booth of Sasaki Associates, who will all co-present the topic “Three Firms’ Approach to Integrating Research into Practice” at next week’s AIA National Convention. The article discusses how each firm is responding to the rising prominence of environmental responsibility in architecture. From EDR’s method of evidence-based design to Sasaki’s firm-wide funding of proposed research projects, the article highlights the importance of research in innovating energy-efficiency strategies. PAYETTE’s thermal bridging research was specifically noted as an effort to increase sustainability efforts not just within the firm, but across the profession as a whole.

If you’re interested in learning more about EDR, Sasaki and PAYETTE’s research initiatives, or want to contribute to the discussion, come to the convention session on Saturday, May 16. Andrea will also be presenting the topic “2030 Commitment Barriers and Successes” at the three-day event. Both sessions, as well as Karen Robichaud’s “Social Media: The Secret Sauce,” were included in Building Green’s list of Leaders in Sustainable Design Speaking at AIA Convention 2015.
