We are pleased to share that Jennifer Hardy was one of eleven women selected for the Sho-Ping Chin Women’s Leadership Summit Grant. Funded by the Architects Foundation, the grant, established in 2017 in the memory of Sho-Ping Chin FAIA, long-time PAYETTE principal, recognizes and supports women in architecture.
The grant provides registration and travel to the 2019 AIA Women’s Leadership Summit. The grants support women in architecture growing into leadership roles in the profession. This year, the grant will fund eleven women to attend the summit, held in Minneapolis, September 12-14.
The selection process was very challenging with so many motivated and qualified candidates seeking to advance their careers and build connections with other women in the industry. We took a particular interest in women returning to the profession after a hiatus. Given how quickly the practice of architecture changes, we saw a need for these women to accelerate their networks and knowledge base. We can’t wait to see what this talented group of professionals do next.
Susan Blomquist, AIA / Grant Jury Member
Jennifer Hardy, AIA has over a decade of experience leading complex international and domestic projects across many typologies, including large scale mixed-use development, high end residential towers, hospitals, libraries, central energy plants and higher education renovations. She recently joined PAYETTE and brings a refined, process-based approach to all that she does, grounded in design rigor with a constructive critical eye and a passion for exploring how we embody what we build. In addition to her work in the studio, she has developed a deep appreciation for collaborating beyond her own firm with the thriving community of designers in Boston. Jennifer co-chairs the Boston Society of Architects Women in Design, she is the founding chair of WiD Emerging Leaders Group, and she is an elected member of the BSA membership committee. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in dance from The Juilliard School and a Master of Architecture with distinction from Pratt Institute.
In receiving this grant, I hope to gain concrete tools and techniques to navigate this stage of my career, as well as absorb a wealth of stories and pathways to leadership from those who are forging the future of our profession. I look forward to sharing this gained knowledge with my peers in the BSA Women in Design community to help weave a more supportive net for women to thrive in architecture.
