We are thrilled to announce PAYETTE Associate Chris Blomquist was awarded 2017 ACE Mentor of the Year for the Boston Chapter.
The ACE Mentor program is an organization widely recognized by universities throughout the US as a stand-out extracurricular program that improves the chances of acceptance into programs offering degrees in the ACE fields.
ACE of Greater Boston, an affiliate since 2007, offers a year-long after-school program providing students in grades 10-12 with an introduction to the design, engineering and construction disciplines. ACE Mentors are full-time architects, engineers and project managers as well as dedicated volunteers excited to inspire the design and construction leaders of the future. Projects involve analysis of site, environmental and permitting issues, design and engineering of a structure, and preconstruction planning, estimating and scheduling. A year-end award event recognizes the student projects and mentors.
At this year’s fifth annual Architecture, Construction and Engineering Industry Networking Event, Chris – who has been a mentor for several years –was recognized for his dedication to making the ACE Mentorship in Boston a success.
Also during the event, Sawda Mohammed, a young woman who was mentored by Chris and members of the Boston chapter, received a full scholarship to study architecture at Wentworth Institute of Technology. This is the first year a Boston-based student received the ACE scholarship.
We would like to congratulate Chris on his well-deserved award!
