We are thrilled to announce that construction is under way at Amherst College as the first foundations were poured for the New Science Center last month. After a lengthy design process, everyone involved with the project is excited see the first piece of an actual building.
The new 230,000 GSF Science Center will house the College’s biology, chemistry, physics and psychology departments. Research and teaching labs, along with support facilities, classrooms and informal learning spaces are all organized around a large multistory atrium, physically and visually connecting the sciences.
It is always a very rewarding experience seeing projects reach the construction stage, and our Amherst College project is no different. Construction officially started in May 2016 with the demo and abatement of four 1960’s era dormitories. The first foundations were poured this past July with an estimated completion date of 2018.
The next two years will be an exciting time as we see our design come to fruition, and we can’t wait to see students in our Amherst College New Science Center in 2018!
