In our University of Pittsburgh Scaife Hall Master Plan project, we are studying the historic 11-story Scaife Hall to identify and prioritize construction projects. The building, which is home to the School of Medicine, needs to modernize the instructional and student spaces to bring the school in line or above peer institutions. As as first step in accomplishing this, we have identified constructing a new student lounge for the medical students, a new front entry addition and renovations to the Medical Education Building for Phase I of the Master Plan.

We have put together a video showing the planning process of how the new additions and renovations will be incorporated in the existing Scaife Hall structure to successfully unlock the true potential within the historic bones of the building.
