These individuals reflect the wide-ranging areas of expertise and talent required across the firm for us to continue to refine the craft and quality of our practice. CALVIN BOYD, AIA, LEED AP BD+C
Promoted to Associate
A multidisciplinary designer with professional experience from both domestic and international building projects, Calvin joined the firm in 2021. He has contributed to a wide range of projects at PAYETTE including the exterior envelope at Paul Hall at Tulane University, the Master Plan for Conghua Medical and two new buildings for Boston Children’s Hospital in Waltham and Needham, where he is leading the Construction Administration.
Calvin is a member of PAYETTE’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee and co-led the completion of PAYETTE’s JUST label certification. In addition, Calvin is also a member of the BSA’s Ethics Committee. He enjoys volunteering including serving as an instructor for our Private Industry Council high school interns, participating in PAYETTE’s annual MLK Day of Service and helping under-served communities with projects at Beyond Walls.
ELIZABETH CILLEY, AIA
Promoted to Associate
Liz joined PAYETTE in 2017 with several years experience in healthcare architecture. During her time at PAYETTE, she has continued her work on healthcare projects, including planning and construction work for Mass General, Penn State Health, Dana-Farber and Yale New Haven Health.
Liz led the construction administration at Penn State Health Hershey Medical Center for the new Vertical Expansion of the Children’s Hospital and has now shifted her attention to the construction of a large new Ambulatory Care Building at Boston Children’s Hospital in Needham. She enjoys project detailing and the management and administration of construction work and enjoys working collaboratively with Construction Managers to get projects built.
Valerie Cintolo
Promoted to IT Systems Manager
Since joining PAYETTE in 2012, Valerie has specialized in end-user technical support, network printer management, MS Windows servers, workstations and laptops. She has been a consistent presence in supporting the firm’s information technology systems. Having started her career in architecture with AutoCAD support she’s grown into a steady presence of our team with over 20 years of experience. She guides our support team, focusing on providing consistent reliable systems and technology. She does so in a steady manner and good humor. She recognizes the importance of our firm’s mission in delivering quality design and helps guide project teams in meeting deadlines and adopting best practices. She is currently CompTIA A+ and Network+ Certified and is responsible for daily system operations, networking, telecommunications, servers and cloud systems. Meeting IT project goals and directives, she manages and adjusts with the ebb and flow of the firm’s missions and project delivery, accommodating daily challenges.
LAURA DEVINE, AIA
Promoted to Associate
Laura joined PAYETTE in December 2018 and is presently the Project Architect of the Meier Hall Addition for Salem State University. For a significant portion of her time at PAYETTE, she has served as the Project Manager for our Cape Cod Community College Frank & Maureen Wilkens Science and Engineering Center, one of our first built projects to be all electric, use cross laminated timber construction and operate as a net zero building. She has been the day-to day contact with all senior leadership at both the College and DCAMM throughout the entire construction phase of the project. Laura also assisted on the University of Hartford and the University of North Carolina Charlotte science projects.
During graduate school, she worked as a researcher focusing on sustainable techniques for informal land occupation and techniques for community empowerment, including working with communities for two summers in Brazil.
JESSICA JORGE, AIA, LEED AP BD+C
Promoted to Associate
Jessica joined PAYETTE in 2019 and has become an integral part of the Northeastern EXP team, contributing to many aspects of the project with a particular focus on planning, programming, designing and detailing high-profile spaces related to the office of the University President. Jessica is a valued member of the team, entrusted with a broad range of responsibilities from design studies to the coordination of complex architectural details.
Beyond project work, Jessica is currently the Co-Chair of PAYETTE’s Women-in-Design group and was the past Co-Chair of the firm’s MLK Day of Service. Recently, she served as a mentor for the Virginia Tech Oasis Studio. Beyond PAYETTE, she has taught at RISD and been a guest critic at the BAC, RISD and Northeastern. She also volunteered with Digital Ready and the BSA’s Kids Build program.
MICHAEL X. NIE, AIA, LEED AP BD+C
Promoted to Associate
Michael joined PAYETTE in 2018 and has contributed to multiple large-scale projects for clients such as Northeastern University and the Ragon Institute of MGH, MIT and Harvard.
Michael has been particularly productive in the design of complex exterior envelopes and has been an integral part of the team designing the innovative exterior façade and roof for Northeastern’s EXP Research Building and Institute for Coastal Sustainability as well as the new Ragon 2.0. He successfully worked with consultants and contractors to develop the complicated roof geometries on these highly sculptural buildings. Currently Michael is working on the early stages of the UMass Sustainable Engineering Laboratories project, where he will expand his focus to the full realm of the building.
