It’s no secret PAYETTE uses social media to communicate, share ideas and build connections. I wrote about the role of the connection economy in today’s business development last month and facilitated the firm’s effort to participate in conversions online during the AIA 2013 National Convention in Denver. When I read this article in Metropolis about how social media allowed the spread of ideas during and after the convention this year, I was excited to learn what the author observed about this behavior. While Lira Luis mentions architect’s slow embrace of social media, what she highlights is a potential new social media tool that could be a game-changer for architects and design professionals, KINetic. Lira describes the new platform as “the first and only social media program that goes beyond traditional platforms. It is created specifically for architects and design professionals.” Furthermore, she likens KINetic to “a fusion between Pinterest, Facebook, and Twitter.” I haven’t had an opportunity to check it out yet; the platform officially launches this fall, but I’ll be exploring the possibilities.
How are you using social media? As an individual? As a firm? What works? What is missing? What if you could better communicate and connect with users, community members and far-flung team members through channels other than email? Would that be beneficial?
