Denise joined PAYETTE in 2006 and became an Associate Principal in 2019. As the Director of Studio Operations, she has been vital to the management of our design studio and coordinates everything ranging from staffing, financials, social media to firm strategy. Her expertise is based on balancing expectations of communication, mentorship and serving as a liaison between the different constituent bodies that form the project teams, from contractual and personnel logistics to financial responsibilities to technological implementation.
She has been invaluable mentoring multiple generations of our Project Managers, training them to understand the multiple complexities of project management and successfully carry projects to their completion. Her presence in the office ensures that solutions to any pressing problems come from dialogue, exchange, clarity, transparency and good humor.
Denise was an integral member of the team behind PAYETTE’s second monograph, Fusion: The Performance of Architecture, which will be published by the Monacelli Press in April 2020. Her knowledge of the publication industry was invaluable to this important project. Denise also orchestrated PAYETTE’s recent exhibition at Roger Williams University’s School of Architecture, Art and Historic Preservation.
As the new voice of PAYETTE on Twitter, Denise is currently curating all of the firm’s social media efforts, working closely with the entire Marketing Department.
Outside of PAYETTE, Denise has been teaching architectural design and theory for over 20 years, most recently at Wentworth and Boston Architectural College. At the BAC, she developed the thesis pedagogy for the Distance Master’s Degree Program, organized exhibitions/conferences, developed the Degree Project Studio and taught history and theory seminars, as well as multiple design studios.
